What was that thing I signed before surgery?
Before your surgery, a neuromonitoring technologist, doctor, or other representative spoke with you about the process of neuromonitoring and what that means for you, as well as giving you the opportunity to ask clarifying questions. Afterwards you were asked to sign a document that states a few things: It acknowledges that you have been informed of any risks associated with neuromonitoring and any questions you had were addressed, it allows us to provide patient care customized to your needs based on your prior medical history by permitting Neuralectric to access to your medical records, and it allows us to contact your insurance company for billing purposes. If you would like a copy of this document in its entirety, please email records@neuralectric.com
What is an Explanation of Benefits? What does "portion you are responsible for" mean?
Most insurance companies require that all patients receive an "Explanation of Benefits" (EOB) for services provided. This is not a bill from Neuralectric. In some cases, if an insurance company does not reimburse Neuralectric for the full balance that we bill them for your procedure, they will include the remaining amount in an EOB listed as "portion you are responsible for". In accordance with California AB72 and the Federal No Surprises Act, Neuralectric does not have a policy of "balance billing" our patients, which means that while the insurance company claims you are responsible for it, Neuralectric will not pursue you for balance payment and we will not report delinquency to any credit agency. If you have any questions, please reach out to us as billing@neuralectric.com
Why did I receive a bill for Co-insurance/Co-pay?
Depending on the insurance plan that you have, a portion of medical costs are shared between you and your insurance company; this is called co-insurance. Due to the network agreements between insurance companies and the facilities that provide service, the provider must make attempts to recuperate these co-insurance costs or risk being in violation of the contract agreement. If you are having trouble with your co-insurance payments you can reach out to billing@neuralectric.com and ask about our financial hardship application.
